Concrete Finisher – Merritt Concrete – Lincoln, NE

Full Time: Hourly    Salary: From $21.00/hour.

Seeking experienced Concrete finishers to expertly pour, level, and smooth concrete on various surfaces, including roads, sidewalks, patios, driveways, curbs, and floors. You may also be required to set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joints, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.

Candidates must possess the skills necessary for the trade and be familiar with the latest concrete pouring technology. We are looking for someone who can work shifts over weekends if required. You should be physically fit and able to stand for long periods, work on your knees, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in high heat and cold weather.

Merritt Concrete has supplied Lincoln and the surrounding areas since 1894. Our volumetric mixing trucks measure and mix concrete on demand for large and small jobs. We bring the batch plant to the customers, ensuring fresh loads are mixed on-site, eliminating waste.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Abide by Company safety programs and policies

Set forms that hold the concrete in place.

Clean and inspect surfaces for pouring issues.

Direct the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.

Pour, smooth, and level concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screen and includes handheld tools and power versions.

Monitor the effects of the weather on the curing process.

Apply vapor barrier, if required.

Safely operate the power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.

Utilize expansion joints using joiners, edging tools, and saw cuts.

Polish the surface using a power trowel.

Perform daily pre-and post-trip safety checks on the equipment and trucks to ensure a safe vehicle. Document any maintenance that is required.

Must distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions at the job site, in traffic, and throughout plant areas.

Perform minor maintenance to the assigned vehicle – tire pressure, oil change, lube job – as needed.

When the workload is light, assist in other areas – repair/maintenance in the plant area, yard clean-up, pallet repair, and other duties as assigned.

Position requirements and education:

High school diploma or GED.

Must have a valid Nebraska driver’s license and be able to meet the insurability requirements of the company insurance program.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, city directories, road maps, load tickets, SDS sheets, and memos.

Two years of work experience as a concrete laborer or mason.

Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials, work long hours, and kneel for long periods.

Knowledge of handheld and power tools, including power vibrators, polishers, cutting saws, and edging tools.

Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during the busy season. Must be able to work late o irregular hours.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screening..
